CONNAUGHT TRIPLE SUCCESS AT SHELSLEY
23 August 2010
Connaught Competition engines scored three class wins at Shelsley’s prestigious August National. Mallock-BDG driver Chris Ward, already the driver of the fastest front-engined, normally aspirated car at the venue, exactly equalled his historic time set last year to win the competitive 2-litre sports libre class in a time just twelve hundredths away from the record. David Hampton set the outright pace in the popular, 24-strong Paul Matty Lotus Championship classes in his Formula Atlantic Lotus-BDA 69, and three-times British Sprint champion Rodney Eyles wheeled out his 2.8 Ralt-Hart RT3, a similar car to his first title winner in 1986, to win the ten-strong pre-1986 racing car class.
