IRISH HILLCLIMB - CARLOW

With Sylvie Mullins at the Mondello Park race meeting, Paul O'Connell two things in mind over the weekend. Firstly, to give himself a chance of retaining his Irish Hillclimb title, he had to win both of the weekend's rounds at Carlow in his Delta-Warrior. Secondly, he wanted to break his own hill records.
The weekend began with a long Friday night to refit the engine fresh from a rebuild at CCE. But at the end of it all he'd succeeded in the first objective, beating Championship rival Simon McKinley each time, although missing out on the second.
However the two wins have given the Limerick driver a good chance of retaining his Championship title,
