BARELONA CER
4 April 2009
Two Connaught powered cars, the 2-litre Chevron B31 of Russell Busst /Dave Freeman and the new Lola T296 of Kevin Wilkins/Mike Catlow, made the journey to Barcelona for the first round of the Classic Endurance Racing series.
A good qualifying session left Catlow/Wilkins in fourth and Busst/Freeman in seventh and both teams set off with good pace for the one hour race. At half distance, Catlow/Wilkins were up to third with the other pair sixth. By the time Freeman took on the driving chores the Hart-powered Chevron B31 was up to fourth, having set not only the fastest 2-litre time but second fastest lap overall.
Unfortunately the HT lead had become detached on the Lola, leaving it parked trackside for the last part of the race. Russell and Dave were delighted with their result and looking forward to round two at Spa.
