IRISH FESTIVAL OF SPEED

7 August 2011

Driving with his usual sideways style, Simon McKinley entertained large crowds in his famous Mk2 Escort Warrior at the inaugural Irish Festival of Speed in early August. At the scenic Adair Manor venue, Co.Limerick, McKinley drove the saloon on special demonstration runs, but was also out in his Lant-Warrior single seater, complete with his own DRS system, during the competitive part of the event. This was dominated by Connaught Irish Hillclimb Championship regulars and featured a tense battle between McKinley and Gould-Judd driver Sylvie Mullins, who just snatched the overall win on his final run in the F1 powered V8. Paul O’Connell chased hard in his recently rebuilt Pilbeam-Hart/Connaught for third overall.
